Now is July

• Still reading The Auto-Ethnographic Turn in Design edited by Louise Schouwenberg & Michael Kaethler. My favorite quote so far: “Perhaps auto-ethnographic design provides a framework that values navel gazing, understanding the intrinsic value in design.”

• Got to see Fishbone open up for Less Than Jake a couple of weeks ago, and it was the best live show I’ve caught in a long time. Living legends.

• Sean Monahan’s substack has been killing it lately. His office hours are very funny, in a millennial curmudgeon kind of way.

• The kids have figured out their shoegaze– It is Chanel Beads Summer.

• Writing a chapter on the Other in Hospitality for a colleague, and in reviewing some underlying source material (Derrida) I am reminded of the wild gap that can emerge between those who write theory and those who use it.

• Cooking my way through the XFF Cookbook (delicious, highly recommended)

Soon it will be August.
